First Buddies (1-2 years)
Our theme-based,
Toddler curriculum follows the Montessori
principles of:
-
mixed age groups -
children perform one piece of work at
a time, returning it to its place when finished -
each child has their own work space,
mat or table
-
learning through sensory experiences
using paint, play-dough etc
The emphasis is on developing emotional, social, intellectual,
physical and language skills with the following aims
Emotional Development
The presence of a parent or helper will reassure
the child, helping them build a relationship
with the teacher and other children in the group
Social Development
We provide a safe environment where children can
develop jumping, kicking, throwing and running
skills. Equipment specifically designed for
gross motor skill equipment is available both
indoors and outdoors
Individual Development
Children will be introduced to colours, shapes,
numbers and the alphabeth. They will learn
matching, pairing, sorting, and transferring.
All will provide a firm foundation preparing
them for pre - school years. Children can also
develop fine motor skills through activities
such as cutting, pouring, crayon and pencil, and
solving puzzles.
Physical Development
We provide a safe environment where children can
develop jumping, kicking, throwing, and running
skills. Equipment specifically designed for
gross motor skill equipment is available both
indoors and outdoors.
Language Development
Children will expand their vocabulary and
language skills through stories, poems, songs,
finger - play, puppets, music and movement.
Daily repetition of these activities will
encourage language development. |
